You are awake

So the background got a little darker, eh? If you were actually dreaming right now, your mind wouldn't be able to pick up on such a slight light difference. According to Dr. Stephen LaBerge's Light and Mirror Experiment, your mind isn't able to pick up such a slight a small light variance while dreaming. Instead you would either see something strange or nothing would happen at all.

If you are kind of bummed that you're not in a dream right, don't worry. Typically people gain the ablity to control their dreams after they realize that something doesn't make sense. Luckily, by testing yourself today, you just gained one memory that might trigger a lucid dream. If the next time you visit this website and nothing happens (or something really weird occurs) you should be able to realize that you are actually dreaming and then be able to control your dream (i.e. Lucid Dreaming). Of course, the more times you test yourself, the more memories you'll have. So be sure to test yourself at least once a day if you're really seriously about having a lucid dream.

You may also want to try to press the "Try Again?" after testing yourself the first time. Instead of the background getting darker, you will see it getting lighter. For some people, "turning off the lights" may be harder for their mind's to project, which in turn will create more opportunities to lucid dream.

If you've still not experiened a lucid dream after two weeks of daily testing, you may want to try to follow detailed guides to lucid dreaming. HERE are a couple of our favorites.
